From Homemade Barbells to Holistic Fitness
I’m a lifelong health and fitness enthusiast — and more importantly, I’m a father of four who understands the challenges of staying fit, healthy, and confident while balancing work, family, and life.
My passion for weightlifting began when I was just 12 years old in Lagos, Nigeria. My older brother and I made a homemade barbell using a metal pole, cement, and two paint tubs.
I still vividly remember how impressed I was by the pump I got after just a few sets of bench press — I felt strong and confident.
But that early dream was cut short when I was told that lifting weights could stunt my growth. Still, that incredible feeling of strength never left me.
Fitness Became My Identity
After moving to the UK and starting secondary school, I faced new challenges. My classmates mocked my Nigerian accent when I read aloud, and they made fun of my short height. It hurt — but it also motivated me.
I made two powerful decisions: to deepen my voice and to build muscle so I could walk with confidence.
The turning point came on a school trip to a Norfolk (a little town in England), where I saw a classmate doing push-ups every day and eating clean. He was ripped — and consistent. I went home and started mimicking his discipline. Push-ups. Clean eating. Daily effort.
By the time I entered college, I had built a lean, muscular body. Eventually, I moved from bodyweight training to proper gym workouts, joining the YMCA opposite my college.
That’s when everything changed, my fitness journey took a massive turn — my love for fitness became a lifestyle.
Consistency Is Key
I’ve maintained a ripped-up body for over 10 years, staying between 69kg and 70kg. I’m now 39 years old — stronger, leaner, and more focused than ever.
Now I Help Dads Like Me
Today, I’m a healthy and fit dad with a deep passion for empowering other busy fathers.
Through Tawfiq Health, I help men reclaim their health, shed their “dad bod,” boost confidence, and reconnect with the energetic version of themselves they thought was gone.
